Thetford Voices Go for Gold on 26 March!Children from three Junior schools celebrated the Olympics in a Thetford Voices Singing Workshop held on Monday 26 March.
The Workshop was based around three original songs written by local song leader John Weeks. First the Olympic Torch Relay was celebrated by a song appropriately sung as a round, each part following on in relay after the other. We then learnt the folk-style 'Sing Hey-Ho', based on the surprising history of the modern Olympic Games with its Victorian origins in the little Shropshire village of Much Wenlock, and dramatised the early verses with mime of things like football, tilting with lances and blindfold wheelbarrow racing, which all took their place in the 1860s side by side with foot races.
